For anyone who obeys traffic laws and bikes in a predictable manner, using common sense, bike lanes unnecessary. They are no safer than biking on a shared road and perhaps less so, as they instill a false sense of confidence.
There needs to be more education and enforcement of bikes and vehicles on the same roadways. Then you will see more people feeling safe enough to cycle.
I love these guys, one thing Toronto finally got right! Now we need some characters to help get people recycling more!
